About

This blog site focuses on projects in the making, and areas for discussion around my current research in socially engaged photographic practice.

I am a practitioner with 9 years experience in socially engaged practice as both artist and curator.  My understanding of, and critical thinking about this practice has grown through institutional roles (Communities Curator, FACT, Creative Producer at CFCCA, Manchester, Glasgow Sculpture Studios, and freelance for Open Eye Gallery and the curatorial agency wewioraprojects). I am currently establishing a network of Socially Engaged Photography Practice (SEPP) working with: artists and universities across the country, and in discussion with the 8 leading photography organisations in the UK and several international initiatives, including wide-angle in South Africa.

Increasingly I am simultaneously employing both artist and curator expertise, for example in the FACT Veterans film club & digital Over60s projects, delivering critically engaged quality artwork with communities across health, community & heritage settings.
